In addition to our routine weekly yoga classes and rotating six-week themed class series, we offer private and group yoga therapy opportunities.
While all yoga can feel therapeutic, not all yoga is yoga therapy.
What is Yoga Therapy?
Yoga therapy is a healing art (and increasingly researched science) developed from the ancient insights of yoga integrated into mainstream health and wellness programs.
Yoga therapy teaches people who are suffering from pain, illness, or disease how to move to a place of ease.
A yoga therapist has been trained with knowledge of diseases, pain management, trauma, addiction, structural issues, and ayurvedic lifestyle.
Accumulating over 1000 hours of training along with clinical supervision, a yoga therapist works alongside other health professionals to meet individuals who are suffering physically and/or emotionally to bring about healing.
Yoga therapy is different from physical therapy in that it uses protocols of corrective movement as only one piece of the multi-dimensional experience.
There are as many treatment strategies as there are people.
It is a multi-dimensional practice that will meet you where you are, using the tools of breathing, meditation, and physical postures to help individuals develop deeper awareness and better health.
Recommended therapies may include awareness practices, mindfulness, breath work, corrective movement, meditation, relaxation, guided visualization, or cleansing practices specific to your condition.
In addition to relieving physical pain, sessions can shed new light on what we have the ability to control, giving us more tools to help relieve anxiety, manage stress, and improve mood.
This integrative approach helps to achieve sustainable results and lasting transformation.

How Can I Work with Your Yoga Therapist?
We offer targeted group yoga therapy sessions (typically a 6-week series) at periodic intervals lead by yoga therapist, Roxie Sweikar.
For private and duo private (two-person) sessions, you will begin with an initial consult and decide on a treatment plan from there.
The initial consultation allows Roxie to get to know you and understand your goals. She will review recommended practices with you to give you an introduction to the treatment plan best suited for you.
Based on your desired outcome, Roxie will then suggest a number of sessions.
For acute physical or emotional issues, Roxie might prescribe a specific number of sessions.
You may also participate in yoga therapy as part of your regimen to maintain wellness.
