Holistic Diagnostic Workup for:

FERTILITY CHALLENGES

Our approach to fertility care is unique because we view impaired fertility as a symptom and not a disease.

Instead of using the word “infertility,” we prefer phrases like, “fertility challenges,” “reduced fertility,” or “impaired fertility”. We don’t think of couples as “infertile” but as having barriers to uncover and address.

We seek to find the underlying causes and address them using an integrative holistic approach.

Once we have uncovered the issues that need to be addressed, our approach involves combining medical treatment and surgical treatment (if necessary and desired), with evidence-based practices known to improve fertility, such as nutrition optimization, stress management, and appropriate supplements.

This unique approach, our years of experience, and the way we give our patients a voice in their own care allows us to achieve better outcomes than traditional medicine alone.

The primary goal of our Fertility Workup is to reveal the underlying cause or causes of impaired fertility and empower you with clarity and expert guidance to identify the best next step for you.

What’s Involved in a Fertility Work-Up?

Typically, there are 2-3 appointments with a provider in addition to medical testing to “work up” a suspected diagnosis based on the symptoms you are experiencing.

Initial Appointment: Couples will have an initial consultation with Sara Arbogast, NP. We find that it is often helpful for your partner to be present at this visit if possible and desired.

At this intake visit, Sara will discuss your concerns and take a thorough history. Labs and tests will likely be ordered at the end of this initial evaluation.

Testing & Physical Exam: This will likely include bloodwork, an ultrasound, and a pelvic exam. We will also order/perform a semen analysis when appropriate.

Follow-Up Appointment: At your next appointment with Sara, she will

  • Explain your lab results

  • Explain your ultrasound results

  • Explain the implications of your pelvic exam

  • Discuss your diagnosis

Next Steps Consult: Once you have a working diagnosis, you will meet with OB/GYN Specialist, Dr. Uthman Cavallo—who has over 20 years of experience successfully assisting couples with fertility.

He will walk you through the pros and cons of different treatment options, empowering you with the knowledge you need to make choices that are best for you.
